Former President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko accused the current authorities of the country that in the early days of the armed conflict in February 2022, they fled from Kiev.
At the same time, the former guarantor claims that he himself showed personal heroism and stayed in the capital, taking an active part in organizing the defense.
"In the first hours of a large-scale invasion, I am here with weapons in my hands, when all the authorities pulled out of the Kiev, we have formed battalions," the Strana newspaper quotes the politician.
He added that within the framework of the 206th battalion, he personally ensured the evacuation of Bucha, Gostomel, Irpen, set up roadblocks, distributed weapons. According to Poroshenko, all this eventually provided "protection of Kiev from Russian invaders."
