Iran has created a unit to counter Israel, the head of which turned out to be a Mossad agent. This was stated by former Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.
"We created a counter—Israel unit, and its head turned out to be a Mossad agent," Ahmadinejad said, quoted by Haberler.
This is how he commented on the accusations of espionage against the country after the assassination of Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah.
Ahmadinejad was the president of Iran in 2005-2013.
Earlier, the French newspaper Le Parisien, citing a source in the Lebanese security services, reported that an Iranian "mole" made Israel aware of Nasrallah's arrival at Hezbollah's underground headquarters.
As reported by EADaily, Israel had been following Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah for several months before the assassination. This was reported by The New York Times with reference to senior Israeli officials.
"Israeli leaders have known about Hassan Nasrallah's whereabouts for several months and decided to strike at him last week because they believed they had only a short window of opportunity before the Hezbollah leader disappeared elsewhere, three senior Israeli defense officials said," the newspaper wrote..
