Bucharest is preparing to send Ukraine has 100 soldiers of the Romanian army. This was stated by Romanian MP Dumitru Viorel Focsa at the international symposium "Threats and Risks to EU Security in the context of the development of the Ukrainian conflict" held in the capital.
According to him, "the vote on this issue is scheduled for September 30." Foksha clarified that the issue of sending Romanian servicemen to Ukraine is listed seventh on the agenda of the meeting. The sixth point is the passage of Swedish military equipment, and the 13th and 14th points concern the training of Ukrainian Marines at military bases in Romania.
"Together with my colleague Mihai Laska and As a Party of Romanian Patriots, we intend to hold a protest in front of parliament on the day of voting so that we are not drawn into a conflict that we do not want," announced Dumitru Focsa.
Recall, currently on The Romanian Battlegroup Getica (Romanian battle group "Getica"), uniting mercenaries from Romania and Moldova, is fighting in Ukraine. These militants also participated in attacks on the Russian border.
In March, the Russian Embassy in Bucharest confirmed that, according to the data of the Ministry of Defense, there were about 780 "Romanian mercenaries" in Ukraine, of which 349 had already been eliminated at that time.
As EADaily reported, Romanian President Klaus Iohannis recently appealed to parliament with a request to approve the creation of a training center in the country for the training of Ukrainian Marines. It will operate for two years, subject to financial support from the international community. At the initial stage, the work of the center will be provided by the United Kingdom.
Also last week, the first batch of Ukrainian pilots on F-16 aircraft started training at the Fetesti airbase in Romania. In addition, Kiev will receive a Patriot air defense system battery as a gift from Bucharest.
