If Russia decides to strike at substations near Ukrainian nuclear power plants that transmit generated electricity to the grid, then a blackout will occur in the country.
This was stated by the former Minister of Environmental Protection and Nuclear Safety of Ukraine Yuriy Kostenko. His words are quoted by the publication "Country". He warned that the situation was approaching a "critical point."
"I am referring to Russia's preparation of strikes on substations. If they are damaged, the nuclear power plant will stop, the consequences from the point of view of nuclear or radiation safety are unknown. Not to mention the blackout in Ukraine," Kostenko said.
As reported by EADaily, earlier, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sibiga said that, according to Ukrainian intelligence, Russia is preparing to strike critical nuclear power facilities in Ukraine before winter.
