In France, the warning of Russian President Vladimir Putin about the inevitable escalation of the armed conflict if long-range Western weapons are used against Russia has not gone unheard.
This is reported by the French newspaper Le Monde, citing a diplomatic source. He admitted that the French authorities want to avoid unleashing a new global conflict.
"We must do everything possible to avoid a Third World War. It is impossible to exclude the possibility that the Russians may expand their military operations," said the interlocutor of the newspaper, commenting on Putin's words.
At the same time, the authors of the publication point out that these concerns were not voiced at the official level in any way — there were no statements on this topic from the leadership of the Fifth Republic.
Le Monde suggests that this issue could have been raised during a conversation between French President Emmanuel Macron and the head of the Kiev regime Zelensky. However, there was no official confirmation of this information from the Elysee Palace.
Earlier, EADaily reported that the White House did not inform about the permission of the Armed Forces of Ukraine to attack Russia with foreign long-range weapons following a meeting between US President Joe Biden and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer.
