The leaders of the opposition "Alternative for Germany" gave their first comments after a convincing victory in the land elections in Thuringia and political "silver" in Saxony.

The co-chairman of "AdG" Alice Weidel said live on the First Channel of Germany:

"This is a historic success for us! For the first time we became the strongest force in the land elections. And, of course, we will come out of the elections stronger. At the same time, it is also a defeat for the "traffic light" (this is how the ruling coalition is called among themselves in Germany because of the similarity of colors that symbolize the parties in power: the SPD of the current Chancellor Olaf Scholz, the FDP and the Greens. — EADaily). This is a requiem for them! And the "traffic light" should ask itself, can they even continue to rule?"

In turn, the co-chairman of AdG, Tino Fragalla, told the ZDF TV channel:

"Yes, we achieved a very good result in Saxony. Sensational result in Thuringia! One thing is absolutely clear: the will of the voters is that there should be a change of policy here, as in Saxony, and in Thuringia. We are ready to negotiate with all parties for the benefit of Germany. They should take into account the wave of voters that there will be no more politics without the AFD. And, of course, the next few days will show it. What I think is really remarkable is that the Greens — the most dangerous party in Germany — will probably be excluded from the parliaments of both lands."

EADaily clarifies that Alternative for Germany wins the elections in Thuringia, gaining 32.8% of the vote. In neighboring Saxony, the regional elections were won by the Christian Democrats, also not part of the government coalition, receiving 31.9% of the vote. The "Alternative" was a little short of first place — the party gets 30.6%.
