As a result of the shelling of the city of Energodar by the Armed Forces of Ukraine, a fire broke out at the facility of the cooling systems of the Zaporozhye NPP. This is reported by the governor of the Zaporozhye region Yevgeny Balitsky.

According to him, now all six power units of the station are in cold shutdown, there is no threat of a steam explosion and other consequences.

"The radiation background around the NPP and the city of Energodar is normal. EMERCOM employees are working at the scene of the fire, the fires are being liquidated. Please remain calm, there is no threat. Together with the management of the station, we keep the situation under control," Balitsky writes in his telegram channel.

As EADaily reported, debris and fragments were found at the Kursk NPP — presumably fragments of intercepted Ukrainian missiles. This was reported by the Permanent Mission of the Russian Federation to international organizations in Vienna.

Russia informed the IAEA about the incident.
