Rampant democracy: New York was overwhelmed by a wave of rapes

The number of rapes in New York has increased by 10% since the beginning of the year. This was stated by the city police department, writes The Washington Times.

According to the city's police department, women are most often attacked at a tourist center near Times Square and in Brooklyn.

The newspaper tells about a recent high-profile case: a migrant raped a 13-year-old girl in broad daylight, threatening her with a knife. Ecuadorian citizen Giovanni Inga-Landi, 25, attacked a girl and her classmate in a Queens park. He forced the children to go into the forest, gagged them, tied them up, and then raped the girl. The authorities said that the migrant was rescued from a group of angry citizens who beat him until the police arrived.

The growing concern of the authorities is exacerbated by the shortage of law enforcement officers, said retired Lieutenant John McCurry. Throwing all their strength into maintaining order in the subway, the police left the streets where crime began to grow.

The former head of the New York Police Department's legal department, Paul Mauro, points out that the overall reduction in staff makes it difficult to stop crime waves. Employees are transferred to patrols from other departments, preventing them from analyzing the reasons for the surge in rapes.
