Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban angered the Americans by speaking out about Nord Stream and the US role in the current situation.

"Europe has refused to protect its interests. All that Europe is doing today is unconditionally following the policy of the American Democrats, even at the cost of self—destruction. There will be changes that have not happened for 500 years. We are facing a change in the world order," Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban said in the Romanian Bail-Tushnad, the Associated Press reports. He pointed to China, India, Pakistan and Indonesia as the "dominant center" of the world.

At the same time, Viktor Orban said that the United States was behind the explosions in September 2022, when saboteurs disabled the Nord Stream gas pipeline, built to transport gas from Russia to Germany. The Hungarian prime minister called the bombings "an act of terrorism committed on the obvious instructions of the Americans."

Viktor Orban's statements and his clear preference for Donald Trump caused obvious displeasure among the American authorities.

Their opinion was expressed by the US Ambassador to David Pressman of Hungary, posting a message on X that the Hungarian prime minister's rhetoric "risks changing Hungary's relations with America."

"We do not have a single ally or partner who would so openly and tirelessly support this or that candidate in the US elections, being convinced that this will help Hungary, or at least him personally," wrote David Pressman. He accused Viktor Orban of spreading Kremlin conspiracy theories about The United States: "One can hardly expect something like that from an ally."
