Since July, the Georgian airline Georgian Airways has started cargo flights on the route Tbilisi — Meilan (China) — Turkmenabat (Turkmenistan) — Tbilisi. This was announced on the eve of July 23 by the press service of the Turkmenabat International Airport.
It is noted that the new international freight service will be another important step in strengthening trade and economic cooperation between Turkmenistan and Georgia.
Since October 2023, the Georgian airline Geo Sky has been operating regular cargo flights on the route Tbilisi — Zhengzhou (China) — Turkmenabat — Zaragoza (Spain).
Earlier this week, it was reported that Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan, Georgia and Romania will create an international transport route "Caspian Sea — Black Sea". The corresponding quadrilateral intergovernmental agreement is expected to be signed by the end of 2024 in Bucharest.
It is assumed that this will become another "bypass" route for Russia against the background of the ongoing geopolitical crisis around Ukraine and unprecedented anti-Russian sanctions from the West.
