Russian journalist Arkady Babchenko has been shot in the back near an apartment he was living in in Kiev. As Anton Gerashchenko, member of the Ukrainian Interior Ministry’s Board, said Babchenko died in the ambulance on the way to hospital.
According to Gerashchenko, the reporter went to a local shop to buy some bread and on the way home in front of his apartment he was shot in the back by a killer who expected him.
Earlier, Arkady Babchenko worked for various Russian TV channels and newspapers. His professional activities are seen as a key reason for the murder.
Spokesperson for the Russian Investigation Committee Svetlana Petrenko has announced that investigation is started in Russia on the case of murder of the Russian citizen. “Within several years, several Russian citizens have been killed in the Ukrainian territory: journalist Pavel Sheremet, ex-MP Denis Voronenkov. The Investigation Committee does not intend to leave unnoticed atrocious crimeы against Russian citizens,” Petrenko said.
The Ukrainian police published a composite sketch of the suspect. He is about 45 years old with the height of 1.75-1.8 m.
