Russia is surprised at silence of Western countries about hunger strike of Nadezhda Savchenko, a member of Supreme Rada of Ukraine, who is currently in custody in Ukraine. Remarks came from Russia’s Representative at the OSCE Alexander Lukashevich.
“Reportedly ‘Hero of Ukraine’ Nadezhda Savchenko, who is kept in custody in Ukraine, went to hunger strike. This is Ukraine’s internal affair, of course, but we are closely following the fate of a person, to whom a special point was dedicated in the section ‘current issues’ in this hall. What we see now is silence,” TASS quotes Lukashevich as saying.
According to him, Russia is extremely surprised at such hypocrisy and double standards applied to the Ukrainian crisis.
As EADaily reported earlier, a Kiev court arrested Savchenko on March 23 for a period of two months on suspicion of preparing terror attacks and coup. In response, the parliamentarian went on hunger strike. She stopped hunger strike for a few times just to pass a lie detector test.
