Ukrainian National Security and Defense Council Secretary Alexander Turchinov has appealed to the West calling for blocking Russian ships in the Bosporus and ban Russia from the Swift banking system. He made the statement in interview to Ukrinform news agency.
“The threat to the peace is coming from Russia today. It needs an adequate response and active action. I believe we need to think over adding new sanctions by blocking Russian military ships when they cross the Bosporus, banning Russian financial system from the Swift, as they are supporting and financing through it both offensive nuclear programs and terrorists, and by taking other effective measures,” he said.
It is worth mentioning, Turchinov’s statements repeatedly drew derision on him. In particular, on April 10, Russia’s Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin called Turchinov an “imbecile” for his intention to make a dirty bomb.
