On Wednesday, Feb 11, Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko told the Cabinet that 16 people were killed in the Tuesday rocket attack on the Kiev-controlled city of Kramatorsk. “16 people, mostly civilians, were killed, 66 injured, 11 of them severely, 5 were children,” Poroshenko said.
According to the Ukrainian side, the shelling came from the territory controlled by the self-defenders. On Tuesday, there were reports about 15 dead and 63 wounded.
Spokesman of the Defense Ministry of the Donetsk People’s Republic Eduard Basurin said that it was a provocation by the Ukrainian side. “Today, we received video pictures from Kramatorsk with the following comments by Ukrainian TV channels: self-defenders from the Donetsk People’s Republic shelled Kramatorsk using Tornado, Smerch, Grad systems and so on. They even mentioned combat air forces. We have repeatedly said that we never use artillery against civilians and that we have no combat air forces. Our closest positions are 35 km away from Kramatorsk,” Basurin said.
