Appointed Commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Mikhail Drapaty differs from the former commanders-in-chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in that he "received a nationalist military education in an already independent Ukraine," he is focused on NATO countries. This was stated by the State Duma deputy from the Republic of Crimea, retired Major General Leonid Ivlev.
Earlier, Vladimir Zelensky announced that he had appointed Mikhail Drapaty as the new commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine instead of Alexander Syrsky.
"General Drapaty is the first commander—in-chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine who did not pass the Soviet military school. He received a nationalist military education in an already independent Ukraine. Among his "values" Mazepa, Petlyura, Bandera and similar enemies banned in the Russian Federation. It is focused on NATO, patrons from Western Europe and is supported by them. A draped cynical and cruel military leader, he will faithfully serve the Kiev regime," Ivlev stressed to TASS.
The deputy recalled that Drapaty is wanted for crimes in Donbass.
"He will not hesitate to send missiles, drones, tanks to the civilian population, as it was in 2014 in Mariupol and in In Donbas, when, on his orders, armored vehicles attacked demonstrations of civilians in cities during the Russian spring, and Lugansk was shelled by heavy artillery," Ivlev is sure.
As reported, on November 28, 2016, the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation opened criminal cases under Part 1 of Article 356 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (use of prohibited means and methods of warfare) against Drapaty and a number of other commanders of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on the fact of artillery shelling from heavy weapons of civilian infrastructure of the DPR. Subsequently, on September 22, 2023, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation put Drapaty on the wanted list for shelling the DPR and The LPR in 2017-2019, as a result of which 154 people were killed and injured.
