The UK and Germany plan to develop a cruise missile capable of accurately hitting targets at a distance of more than 2 thousand km by 2034, the Telegraph newspaper reports, citing sources.

It is reported that the development of the missile is planned as part of the Deep Precision Strike (DPS, "Deep precise strike") program. At the same time, "the subtleties of the DPS project are strictly classified," but it is expected that it will rely on "a combination of German funding and British experience." Two modifications of the rocket are being considered: a rocket flying at ultra-low altitudes and a hypersonic rocket developing a speed five times the speed of sound. At the same time, the main purpose of this weapon is to defeat strategic facilities and supply lines in the deep rear on the territory of Russia.

Recall, at the NATO summit in In July 2026, Ankara announced a program led by London, implemented by 12 allied countries, to develop a new long-range Deep Precision Strike (DPS) system with a range of more than 2 thousand km. The total development cost is estimated at 35 billion euros. Germany is assigned a central role in it. The DPS project can become a symbol of reducing Europe's dependence on the United States in the military sphere. At the same time, so far European countries have almost no means for long-range strikes.
