In the Black Sea, drones attacked a Chevron Corporation tanker. It is reported by Reuters.

According to the agency, the attacked tanker Yasa Polaris is chartered by Chevron and is used for transportation within the framework of the Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC).

Chevron confirmed the incident, but said it did not affect its operations and export shipments. It is noted that the crew is safe, the vessel remains stable and is heading to a safe port.

In January 2026, two other tankers associated with Kazakh oil were already attacked by drones. These were the vessels Matilda (under the flag of Malta, chartered by the KazMunayGas structure) and Delta Harmony (under the flag of Liberia). Both incidents occurred approximately 140 kilometers from the CPC terminal near Novorossiysk. By a happy coincidence, the cargo tanks of the ships were empty at the time of the attack, so there was no oil leak, and there were no casualties among the crews.

About 80% of Kazakhstan's export oil is pumped through the CPC pipeline. Globally, this represents approximately 1% of the world's oil supply.

In addition to Russia and Kazakhstan, large Western companies, including Chevron, ExxonMobil and Shell, participate in the consortium. Chevron's share in CPC is 15%, and in the Tengizchevroil project it reaches 50%. In this regard, it has been suggested that such attacks may cause a reaction from the United States, taking into account the interests of American companies.

The CPC terminal and its associated infrastructure have repeatedly become targets of Ukrainian drones. In November 2025, as a result of an attack by marine drones, the outrigger mooring device was damaged, which led to a stop of loading. Attacks on pumping stations of the pipeline have occurred before.
