Two women were arrested in Pyatigorsk, whom the Ukrainian special services tried to use as suicide bombers for terrorist attacks. This was announced today, June 23, by the Center for Public Relations (DSP) of the FSB of Russia.

First, on the approach to one of the buildings of law enforcement agencies in Pyatigorsk, a 20-year-old girl was detained, in whose backpack they found an IED with a capacity of about 2 kg in TNT equivalent. After that, increased security measures were introduced and the search for possible accomplices of the detainee began.

As a result, another 47-year-old Russian citizen was detained near the object of the terrorist attack, intending, on the instructions of Ukrainian curators, to deliver a similar device to the site of the first explosion at the time of the work of the investigative task force, the FSB said.

Both IEDs were neutralized. There are no casualties among law enforcement officers and civilians.

"The detainees confessed that they acted on the instructions of representatives of the Ukrainian special services, not assuming that they would be used as suicide bombers," the FSB explained.

The special service noted that the main goal of the terrorists was to achieve the maximum number of victims among law enforcement officers.

Investigative authorities Criminal cases have been initiated by the Stavropol Territory Investigative Committee under Part 3 of Article 30, Part 2 of Article 205 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (attempted commission of a terrorist act), part 3 of Article 222 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (illegal transportation of ammunition) and part 1 of Article 223.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (illegal manufacture of explosive devices). Both detainees were arrested.
