More and more Asian countries are expressing interest in the construction of nuclear power plants by Rosatom.
"Russia and Laos has signed an intergovernmental agreement on cooperation in the field of the use of atomic energy for peaceful purposes,"Rosatom reports.
The state corporation noted that the signing will make it possible to start working on a project for the construction of a Russian-designed nuclear power plant in Laos.
"At the first stage, it is proposed to conduct a preliminary feasibility study on the integration of nuclear power plants into the country's energy system: the study will determine the configuration of the project and potential regions of station location, which will give the Lao side the opportunity to make an informed decision on the nuclear energy development program," the state corporation said.
Rosatom is actively working in Asia. The largest projects are carried out in China, India and Bangladesh.
For example, in India, Rosatom reports that the reactor vessel has already been installed at the fifth unit of the Kudankulam NPP. It is expected that the first power unit in Bangladesh will start operating this year. One of the attractive aspects of Russian projects is not only the quality, but also the loans that are provided to customers.
