The creator of the animated series "Masha and the Bear" Oleg Kuzovkov will shoot a full-length picture based on the cartoon. This is reported by the Variety portal.
The film crew will present to the world audience an updated vision of the characters of Masha and the Bear, while maintaining the good-natured comedic manner of the original. It is planned that the work on the feature film will be completed by the end of 2028.
"I am truly touched that I have the opportunity to expand the universe of Masha and the Bear to a full-length film. This is an exciting creative challenge that I accept wholeheartedly. My incredibly creative team is full of energy and desire to bring it to life with the same spirit, humor and love that made the old animated series so beloved," concluded Kuzovkov.
Recall that the cartoon "Masha and the Bear" was first released in January 2009. The project has become incredibly popular both in In Russia, and in other countries. The animated series was broadcast on TV channels in the UK, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Canada, Latin America, the Middle East and others. Since 2015, Masha and the Bear has been shown as an interactive full-length animated film in Russian cinemas as part of the Cartoon in Cinema project, as well as in cinemas in France, Italy, the Netherlands, Sweden, Romania, Turkey, Great Britain, Ireland, Brazil and other countries.
In early November 2022, it became known that in mid-December, the Volga film distribution company would release the first mini-film about Masha and the Bear — "Masha and the Bear: 12 months." In June 2023, the second film was released — Masha and the Bear: Say "Oh!" In December 2024, the third film "Masha and the Bear: Park of Wonders" was released.
As reported by EADaily, the project gained huge popularity on Ukraine, which is why there have been repeated calls to restrict its broadcast. The version with the series in Ukrainian voice acting is posted on a separate YouTube channel, which has 18 million subscribers. In 2025 alone, he collected more than 800 million views.
