Ground operation against Iran: Pentagon targets Abu Musa Island

The energy crisis is pushing the United States to resolve the Iranian issue as soon as possible, according to American journalists who found out that the administration of President Donald Trump still intends to launch a ground operation against Iran. According to The New York Times, the decision has already been made.

Axios writes that even the goals are defined. First of all, the Pentagon proposes to seize the island of Abu Musa in the eastern part of the Persian Gulf. Earlier, Axios, citing US officials, reported that the Pentagon is developing scenarios for a military campaign against Iran. The military offers Trump four options for a "decisive strike." One of them involves the seizure or complete blockade of the island of Khark. Another scenario is aimed at Larak Island, which is used by Tehran to control the strategically important Strait of Hormuz. The third option concerns the capture of Abu Musa and two adjacent pieces of land at the western entrance to the strait. The fourth scenario is the interception or forcible seizure of tankers transporting Iranian oil from the eastern direction.

In addition to actions on the water, the Pentagon has worked out a ground operation plan. Its goal is to penetrate deep into enemy territory in order to take control of stocks of highly enriched uranium at nuclear facilities. An alternative to this would be massive air strikes to destroy access to the material. As the source notes, the owner of the White House has not yet made a final decision.
