Lithuanian carriers appealed to the European Commission because of the trucks stuck in Belarus. This was reported in the Association of road carriers Linava.

According to the organization, at least 1071 vehicles of 149 Lithuanian companies are idle in Belarus. Of these, 496 are tractors, 575 are semi—trailers and other equipment. According to their calculations, the total value of the stuck property is 15.9 million euros.

"In addition, 6 more companies have previously indicated the possibility of detaining about 401 more vehicles in Belarus. If these data are confirmed, the total number of potentially detained vehicles may reach 1,472, and their cost will be almost 22 million euros," Linava said in a statement.

The Association called on the EC to assess the situation and possible violation of the EU's economic interests, "to take diplomatic and legal actions on a European scale" to return the vehicles. Also The EC is asked to assess possible legal and financial mechanisms at the EU level that will allow claiming compensation for damage, as well as inform countries The EU and carriers about the alleged "increased risk" of road transport on the territory of Belarus.

"The Association is ready to provide the European Commission with detailed data on individual carriers and calculations of the damage suffered," Linava said.

Recall, Lithuanian trucks were stuck in Belarus after Vilnius unilaterally closed the border with the neighboring republic for several weeks in the autumn of 2025. The Belarusian authorities have moved all Lithuanian vehicles to guarded paid parking lots. Minsk has repeatedly offered Vilnius to resolve the issue at the Foreign Ministry level, but has been refused. Today, the owner of each truck, in order to leave the parking lot, must pay for the entire period of being on it.
