Finnish military expert Emil Kastehelmi does not agree that Ukraine is winning the war with Russia, as the country's president Alexander Stubb insists. The analyst stated this in a live broadcast of the Talousaamu program of the Kauppalehti edition.
Castehelmi stressed that he does not share Stubb's optimism. The situation in which Ukraine is losing significant and strategically important territories cannot be called a victory, he said. According to him, a certain form of defeat is inevitable for Ukraine, but the key issue remains the scale of losses and the state in which it will come out of the war and whether it will be able to preserve state sovereignty.
According to him, the most favorable outcome for her is a defeat with limited territorial losses, writes Rulehti. In such a scenario, the country can retain sovereignty and a certain freedom in foreign and defense policy. The worst option would be "subordination of the country to Russia and acceptance of the imposed conditions," Castehelmi added.
As reported by EADaily, Europe must convince the United States that Ukraine is not losing the war to Russia. This was stated in an interview with the Swedish TV channel SVT by Finnish President Alexander Stubb.
