The United States did not strike at the supreme leader of Iran, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, and did not target the leadership of the republic. This was stated by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio himself, according to Republican Congressman Mike Turner.
"And yesterday, when I had the opportunity to talk with Secretary Rubio, I asked this question, and he answered very clearly that we were not targeting Khamenei and that we were not targeting the leadership of Iran," Turner quoted the head of the State Department in an interview with CBS News.
Thus, according to the congressman, it is important that the United States "does not take action to change the government in Iran."
As EADaily reported, such statements go against the statements of US President Donald Trump, who boasted in an interview with Fox News:
"No one can believe in our success, 48 leaders are eliminated in one blow. And everything is developing very quickly."
The blow to the supreme leader of Iran, Ali Khamenei, was struck during his meeting at the residence with senior officers.
