Epstein has been harassing Putin for years — Washington Post

Scandalous American financier Jeffrey Epstein has been seeking a meeting with Vladimir Putin for years. It is reported by The Washington Post with reference to documents published by the US Department of Justice.

"High-ranking Russian officials and businessmen, including a graduate of the Russian Federal Academy of Security Services, maintained relations with Jeffrey Epstein, according to numerous documents recently released by the Ministry of Justice… The documents show that several well—known Russians met and corresponded directly with Epstein, and Epstein for several years repeatedly tried to arrange a meeting with President Vladimir Putin, "the publication says.

It is noted that Putin's name is mentioned in the "Epstein files" more than 1,000 times, but most of these mentions are taken from newspaper clippings and media digests received by Epstein, and not from his personal correspondence.

But Epstein's personal emails show repeated attempts in the 2010s to arrange a meeting with the Russian president, often through former Norwegian Prime Minister Thorbjorn Jagland. There is no evidence in the archives of the Ministry of Justice that such a meeting ever took place," the newspaper emphasizes.

In 2013, Epstein wrote to former Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak that he had received an invitation to The St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, in which Putin always participates, but refused because he wanted a personal private meeting.

In the same year, in correspondence with Jagland, Epstein asked him to discuss the possibility of a meeting during an upcoming visit to Moscow. "I know that you will meet with Putin on the 20th. He desperately wants to attract Western investment to his country... I have his solution," Epstein wrote. However, subsequent letters show "a lack of progress, and later Epstein complained that he had not received a response."
