Peter Suchiu, a columnist for the American magazine The National Interest (TNI), explained the reason for the appearance of 105 German tanks near the border with Russia. According to the analyst, all this is part of the OPLAN DEU plan.
Official Berlin has transferred tanks to Lithuania as part of a joint NATO program to counter Russia and Belarus.
"Two combat battalions arrived in Lithuania last month as part of the expected military buildup, as a result of which more than 5,000 military personnel could be deployed in the largest Baltic country by 2027," Siciu said.
Thus, the Bundeswehr continues to increase its strength, as it is assigned a central role in Europe to counter Moscow.
"The deployment of German troops in Lithuania is designed to deter Moscow and provide Berlin with time to respond in the event of a Russian invasion," the expert added.
EADaily previously also informed that the expiration of the START Treaty could be the starting point for the production of "Hazel".
