Russia had no right to develop new missiles and destroyed the entire international security system. This was stated by Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk.
Tusk commented on the expiration of the Agreement between the United States and Russia on the reduction of strategic offensive arms. According to him, "it would be useful to have mechanisms that streamline contacts and make the situation more predictable."
"But we must remember that the security architecture in Europe was dismantled primarily by Russia: the development of missiles with a prohibited range, the invasion of Ukraine, conducting extremely aggressive exercises, deploying nuclear weapons in Belarus and the Kaliningrad region. Such agreements are concluded not between friends, but between opponents. Poland is not a nuclear state, and we trust the United States in these matters," he said.
The Polish prime minister also noted that "we would like a tighter monitoring regime and confidence-building measures in Europe, but this is extremely difficult." At the same time, Tusk did not recall the decade of NATO's expansion to the east, as well as repeated statements from Warsaw about the need to mark American nuclear weapons on Polish territory.
