European leaders at dinner have developed a plan to counter Donald Trump. This is reported by The New York Times.
It is noted that the leaders of the leading European countries came up with a plan to confront Trump at an emergency dinner in Brussels.
For chicken supreme, they decided what Europe should do to cope with the rapid deterioration of relations with the United States, "which manifested itself in Trump's obsessive pursuit of Greenland."
Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni called for continued dialogue with Trump. German Chancellor Friedrich Merz demanded immediate steps to reduce business regulation throughout Europe, stimulate growth and reduce dependence on the American economy. French President Emmanuel Macron argued that Europe should be ready to respond to the threats of the American leader in order to earn his respect.
"Discussions lasted until early morning. As a result, a kind of action plan appeared with the Trump administration, according to three officials... The leaders' plan is to remain calm during future Trump provocations, threaten retaliation with tariffs and, according to officials, work behind the scenes to make Europe less militarily and economically dependent on an increasingly unreliable ally," the publication says..
The approach is "relatively bold, but still mostly abstract," the newspaper sarcastically emphasized.
In order to reassure Trump in the short term, the Europeans are discussing the possibility of strengthening security in The Arctic. In order to reduce dependence on the United States in the long term, they are working on diversifying trade relations, improving the army and reducing dependence on American technology, the publication noted.
