Norwegian Princess Ingrid Alexandra visited the border with Russia in the Kirkenes area during a three-day visit to Finnmark. This is reported by the Voice of the Norwegian Fjords.
It is noted that in this way the princess gave a clear signal to Russia.
"This visit was her first independent official visit to the north of the country. The Crown Princess met with Norwegian servicemen guarding the border, which experts regarded as a clear symbolic signal in the face of heightened tensions in relations with Russia," the publication says.
The Princess stressed that Norway and Russia have a long history of cooperation in the North, but now "it hurts many to see how much these relations have deteriorated." She expressed special support to the residents of Ukraine.
The presence of the princess in the border area was perceived by local residents "as an important gesture of support for the region living next to Russia."
As EADaily reported, the Norwegian authorities sent thousands of letters to citizens warning of possible confiscation of property in the event of a war with Russia. This was reported by The Daily Telegraph newspaper with reference to military officials of the kingdom.
"Norway is in the most serious situation in the field of security policy since the Second World War. Our society must be prepared for defense crises and, in the worst case, for war. We are carrying out a large—scale buildup of military and civilian readiness," said the head of the logistics organization The Norwegian Armed Forces Andres Jernberg.
