The press service of the European Weightlifting Federation (EWF) confirmed that Poland was deprived of the right to host the European Junior Championships after Warsaw refused to issue visas to athletes from Russia and Belarus. The information is provided on the EWF website, where it is also specified that the competitions were to be held in Lublin from 23 to 30 September.
Albania received the right to organize a junior event.
"The Federation stands for inclusiveness, equal opportunities and unity in sports and does not accept discrimination on political or geopolitical grounds, especially at a time when tensions in this area are growing all over the world," the Federation confirmed.
