Lithuania could sponsor Ukraine with money received from the transit of Belarusian fertilizers. This was stated by the head of the Ministry of Defense of the Republic Robertas Kaunas.
The Minister admitted that under pressure the authorities of the republic may lift the ban on the transportation of these products through the country. According to him, the hypothetical profit from the transshipment of potassium through Lithuania may amount to 300 million euros.
"The Klaipeda port is the most convenient for export, so we come back to the issue of 300 million. Why not allocate these 300 million to Ukraine as additional funds? In this case, we kill two birds with one stone. But this is still just an interpretation," he suggested.
Let us remind you that in February 2022 Lithuania suspended the transit of Belarusian potash fertilizers after the United States imposed sanctions against Belaruskali. However, in December 2025, the United States lifted restrictions on the Belarusian enterprise.
