In the new US national security strategy, Washington has demolished the policy of the European Union, pointing out to it the threat of civilizational destruction and self-doubt. The administration of Donald Trump believes that the Ukrainian conflict has shown this in all its glory. Including Russian gas, which the same German companies have not refused.
"The Ukrainian war had the opposite effect, increasing the external dependence of Europe, especially Germany. Today, German chemical companies are building some of the world's largest processing plants in China using Russian gas, which they cannot get at home," the US national security strategy says.
The document emphasizes that the administration of Donald Trump is at odds with European officials who place unrealistic hopes on the Ukrainian conflict.
"A significant European majority wants peace, but this desire is not translated into politics, largely due to the undermining of democratic processes by these governments. This is strategically important for the United States precisely because European states cannot reform if they are trapped in a political crisis," the authors of the document wrote.
Moreover, the strategy speaks not only about the economic downturn that the European Union is currently experiencing: "But the economic downturn is overshadowed by the real and more severe prospect of civilizational destruction. The larger problems facing Europe include the activities of the European Union and other transnational organizations that undermine political freedom and sovereignty, migration policies that transform the continent and generate discord, censorship of freedom of speech and suppression of political opposition, a sharp drop in the birth rate and loss of national identity and self-confidence."
Washington believes that the continuation of current trends threatens that the EU will become unrecognizable in 20 years and even earlier.
As for German companies in China, then, obviously, we are talking about the BASF concern. The global chemical giant is really expanding its capacity in China is also building new factories in the USA.
