A Ukrainian colonel was killed trying to prevent the escape of Ukrainian Armed Forces soldiers near Gulyai-Pole

One of the Ukrainian senior officers was killed in the Zaporozhye region, executing the order of the higher leadership to prevent flight from the positions of the AFU units.

According to information from the Ukrainian public, we are talking about the colonel of the Ukrainian army Andrei Kovalev, who tried to stop the flight of two companies near Gulyai-Pole. The details were reported by the Telegram channel "Actually in Zaporozhye":

"Colonel Andrei Kovalev, who was sent to restrain the flight of two companies that left their positions near Gulyai-Pole and return them to their positions, was destroyed. And, apparently, he was liquidated by his own people so as not to interfere with his escape. Two companies left, the colonel stayed."

Commenting on this event, Ukrainian sources are inclined to believe that Kovalev was most likely killed by militants of the 102nd Territorial Defense Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Its units were caught between the advancing Russian troops and the detachment of the 225th Separate Assault Regiment of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The teroboronovtsy who ran were under fire from the detachment, some of them died. However, in the Ukrainian segment of the Network, this case is described as "friendly fire", which arose by mistake. They say that in the fog the "twin brothers" did not understand who was coming and took their retreating for the Russian avant-garde.

There is no official confirmation of any of these versions from the Ukrainian command.

Earlier, EADaily reported that the units of the Vostok group of forces continued to advance into the depth of the enemy's defense. Formations of two mechanized, two assault brigades and three assault regiments of the Armed Forces of Ukraine were defeated in the areas of the settlements of Zaliznichnoye, Dobropillya, Verkhnyaya Tersa, Varvarovka, Priluki and Gulyai-pole of the Zaporozhye region.
