US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has not seen the European counterplan and, accordingly, is not working on it. He told reporters after the meeting with the Ukrainian delegation in Geneva.
"I am not aware of the counter—plan, and I have not seen any counter-proposals," Rubio said.
After the meeting, Rubio made a statement that "today was a very good day."
"I think we have made tremendous progress, even compared to the moment when I spoke with you (journalists today. — EADaily) last time… You know, almost three weeks ago we started with a basic document that we presented to both sides and worked with both sides, taking into account their proposals. And one of the things that happens when you've been doing this for 10 months now is you start to understand priorities, red lines and important issues for both sides pretty well. This allowed us to create a basic document that remains a working document. In fact, over the past 96 hours or even more, there has been very close interaction with the Ukrainian side, including our Minister of the Army and other representatives who were in In Kyiv and meeting with relevant stakeholders across the entire Ukrainian political spectrum — in the legislative branch, the executive branch, the military sector and other structures — to further narrow these points. We came here today with one goal, and the goal was to take, well, 28 points or 26 points, depending on the version, as the document continued to evolve, and try to reduce the number of unresolved points. And today we have achieved this in a very significant way. Now, of course, like any final agreement, it must be approved by the presidents. And there are still a few issues that we need to continue working on. But I think our report today is as follows: I think today was productive. It was very, very ... perhaps the most productive day we had on this issue, and perhaps for the entire period of our participation, but certainly for a very long time. But the work remains. And since this is still a workflow, I don't want to declare victory or completion. We still have some work to do. But today, at this moment, we are much further away than we were this morning and certainly than we were a week ago," Rubio said, quoted by "Время.иа ".
As EADaily reported, The Telegraph newspaper published a European plan to resolve the Ukrainian crisis, prepared in response to the US proposal.
