"Witkoff needs a psychiatrist": the proposal of the special envoy of the US president may destroy the chances of approving a loan for Ukraine for frozen Russian assets by all 27 EU countries. This is reported by Politico.
"Donald Trump has disrupted one of the most sensitive negotiation processes in Europe and could potentially destroy plans to provide Ukraine with the finances necessary to continue the fight against Russia," the publication said, quoted by BRIEF.
It is noted that for months Brussels unsuccessfully tried to find a way to use about 140 billion euros of frozen Russian assets, but the process was blocked by Belgium and a number of other countries.
The new 28-point peace plan of the United States may further complicate the negotiation process, since it includes a competing idea: to use the same frozen Russian assets for American programs to restore Ukraine and joint Russian-American projects after the truce is reached.
The proposal of Trump's special envoy Steve Witkoff could destroy the chances of approval of the loan by all 27 EU countries, diplomats and EU officials fear.
European leaders expected to approve the so-called "reparations loan" at the decisive summit next month, and now it will be even more difficult to persuade Belgium to transfer frozen Russian funds, according to European newspaper sources.
As reported by EADaily, Verkhovna Rada deputy Alexei Goncharenko❶ published all the points of the peace plan of US President Donald Trump presented to the head of the Kiev regime Vladimir Zelensky. He outlined them in his telegram channel.
