The former mayor of the Mining district of the Perm Region, Alexander Afanasyev, died in the area of a special military operation. This is reported by the district administration on its page on the social network.
"From October 2005 to December 2011, he was twice elected head of the Mining town settlement — chairman of the Duma of the Mining town settlement. Since December 2011, he has been elected head of the Gornozavodsky municipal district and worked in this position until December 2021,"the report says.
According to the publication Ura.ru , the farewell ceremony will be held at the Gornozavodsky Recreation center.
"Farewell to Alexander Nikolaevich will take place this Friday [November 14] and will begin at 18:00. This time was chosen due to the fact that the coffin with the body of the deceased should be delivered to Gornozavodsk from Perm. If it happens earlier, then the civil memorial service will begin earlier," the press service said. The House of Culture.
They clarified that the farewell will last two days — November 14-15.
Afanasyev resigned from the post of head of the Mining district in connection with a criminal case brought against him under the article on abuse of office. Later, Afanasyev's case was reclassified, he evaded criminal responsibility in connection with the amnesty. In December 2024, he voluntarily signed a contract with the Russian Ministry of Defense. Before the information about the death appeared, Afanasyev was considered missing for several months.
