Russian gas supplies through European intermediaries to Ukraine brought the capacity of the European line of the Turkish Stream to a new record.
According to ENTSOG, the platform of the GTS operators of the EU countries, deliveries via the European line of the Turkish Stream set a new record on November 6. They reached 55.82 million cubic meters per day. The previous record was the day before, on November 5, — 55.8 million cubic meters per day.
In November, Gazprom increased deliveries via the European line of the Turkish Stream, and the company's exports via the pipeline beat daily records in February on some days. The increase in gas supply may be due to the fact that European companies, the Greek DEPO and the Swiss Axpo, began reselling gas to Ukraine and, for example, on November 5, exports via the "Vertical Gas Corridor" through Romania rose above 1 million cubic meters.
At the same time, there are no physical supplies from Greece itself, which suggests a route, according to ENTSOG. Volumes are taken from Russian exports to Bulgaria.
The volumes supplied are only 4% of Ukraine's imports, but the country is sorely short of gas after retaliatory strikes by the Russian army on domestic gas production.
As EADaily reported, after the retaliatory strikes of the Russian army in October, the gas shortage this winter on Ukraine was estimated at more than 4 billion cubic meters. Vladimir Zelensky stated that $ 750 million still remains to be found for their purchase.
Ukrainian storage facilities have been filled this year by more than 13.2 billion cubic meters. However, the same reserves were almost completely exhausted in the last heating season. Therefore, the country has no other choice but to import additional gas to compensate for losses in domestic gas production.
Polish and Hungarian destinations are the most affordable transportation. But they are already operating at almost full capacity. At the same time, the "Vertical Gas Corridor" remains the most expensive — a quarter of the cost of gas, $ 90-100 per thousand cubic meters.
Previously, the cheapest option for buying gas for Ukraine was to buy volumes from European traders from Ukrainian transit. But Kiev itself stopped him and became the first victim of its decision.
