Serbian screenwriter and director Emir Kusturica intends to obtain Russian citizenship after completing the filming of the film based on the story of the Russian writer. The cinematographer told TASS about this.
"I have to finish the movie. The first film based on a Russian novel. And then, when I work on the next shoot, I will take my passport," said Kusturica.
Currently, he is shooting the film "The Last Term" based on the novel of the same name by Valentin Rasputin (1937-2015). Earlier, the director said that the script of the film is already ready. After that, it is planned to shoot a film based on the novel by Yevgeny Vodolazkin "Laurel", as well as the tape "How I didn't shoot Crime and Punishment" based on the novel by Fyodor Dostoevsky, where the role of Kusturica himself will be played by Yura Borisov.
"There will be Russian citizenship. It will definitely be," concluded Kusturica.
As reported by EADaily, at the end of August this year at the closing ceremony of the Moscow International Film Week (MMNK) Kusturica was awarded the "Great Master of World Cinema" award.
The award was established by the Moscow film platform "Moskino" with the support of the Moscow Department of Culture. The prize is awarded to directors, actors, screenwriters and cameramen whose work has influenced the development of world cinema.
