Earlier, Vasily Marzoev's cousin, reserve officer Oleg Marzoev, who coordinates assistance to Ossetian units in the SMO zone, reported the death of the commander of the reconnaissance platoon of the airborne assault regiment of the Russian Airborne Forces.

For heroism, courage and selflessness shown in the performance of military duty, Guard Lieutenant Vasily Arkadyevich Marzoev was presented to the title of Hero of the Russian Federation posthumously.

The officer was buried in Vladikavkaz, on the Walk of Fame at the Eternal Flame, next to the grave of his uncle, Colonel Stanislav Marzoev.

Vasily Marzoev was 21 years old.
