US President Donald Trump, speaking about the meeting with Russian leader Vladimir Putin, said that no decision had been made yet, as he would not like to waste time, he promised to say in two days what would happen next.
"I don't want to waste time, so we'll see what happens."… I haven't made a decision yet," Trump said when asked about the meeting with Putin and the likelihood of sending Tomahawk missiles to Ukraine.
The US president added that within two days he would report on the next steps of his administration regarding a possible meeting with his Russian counterpart.
Trump also said that the Ukrainian conflict could have ended with World War III, but now it will be settled, because both Putin and Vladimir Zelensky want it. According to him, the conflict on Ukraine does not affect the United States, because it happens overseas without the participation of the American military.
The day before, an official at the White House said that Trump currently has no plans to hold a personal meeting with Putin.
Kirill Dmitriev, head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF), Special Representative of the President of Russia for investment and economic cooperation with foreign countries, commenting on media reports about the upcoming Russia-US summit in Hungary, said that preparations for it are continuing.
Last week, Vladimir Putin had a telephone conversation with his American counterpart, discussing with him the situation around Ukraine. Following the conversation, Trump announced plans to meet with the Russian president in Budapest. However, on Tuesday, an official from the administration of the owner of the White House told RIA Novosti that he was not planning to meet with Putin in the near future.
The day after the telephone conversation, the American president met with Zelensky in Washington. Axios portal noted that the negotiations were tense, and Trump showed rigidity. One of the sources said that the meeting "went badly." Zelensky had to hold a press conference outside the White House.
Commenting on the possible decision to supply Tomahawk missiles to Kiev, Trump has repeatedly stated that the States themselves need them, despite their large reserves.
