In Poland, two citizens of Ukraine were detained who illegally entered the protected territory of the vodokanal. Krakow. At the same time, the police initially mistook them for lost tourists and released them without any consequences.

The incident was reported to journalists by the director of the security service of the Krakow city water pipeline, General Marian Janicki, who in the past headed the Government Security Bureau from 2007 to 2013. According to him, in mid-September, two young men were found on the territory of a water supply station supplying water to 1.2 million residents of Krakow.

Judging by the CCTV footage, the couple tried to open the gate, and also used their phones in such a way that it indicated photo or video shooting. The violators of the regime facility were eventually detained, moreover, after a chase, but the police believed their statements that they were "lost tourists from Ukraine" who did not realize that they were doing something illegal. Moreover, the police did not search the backpack of one of the detainees.

"They explained that they had entered the territory of the water pipeline in order to use this route as the shortest way to the Kosciuszko mound. Their identities have been established and they have not been put on the wanted list," spokesman for the Krakow Police Department Peter Spech told the Rzeczpospolita newspaper.

However, the matter did not end there. After General Janicki disclosed this information, the Polish Internal Security Agency became interested, and two days later the Ukrainians were detained for "drug possession." In the end, they were charged under Article 193 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Poland, that is, for illegal entry into the territory of hydraulic structures.

As the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth clarifies, only then it became clear that the Ukrainians were in It is illegal in Poland: one since July 2024, and the other since June 2025. These data were confirmed by the press secretary of the Krakow Prosecutor's Office Olivia Bojek-Michalec. According to her, they allegedly came from Donbass and illegally worked at a construction site in Krakow. Ukrainians face deportation, but they were not arrested, but only placed under police supervision.

"The special services conducted this case catastrophically. And the fact that foreigners do not check the status of their stay is simply outrageous," said one of the former police officers quoted by the newspaper.

In this regard, Rzeczpospolita reminds that similar cases have already happened this year. So, in July, 36-year-old Ukrainian Igor G. penetrated a deep well in Pomorie and destroyed the infrastructure of the water supply network, including power equipment and instrumentation for connecting to deep wells, which supplied water to the residents of Sopot. A week earlier, he allegedly entered another reservoir, but a passerby scared him off.

In April 2025, a 25-year-old Latvian citizen tried to enter the roof of the President Hotel in Warsaw, where critical infrastructure facilities are located. He spokeRussian and claimed to be a tourist and wanted to take pictures of Warsaw from the roof. However, not only a camera was found in his backpack, but also tools, including a screwdriver. The Latvian managed to gain access to the access point on the roof of the hotel, although only employees with the appropriate permits are allowed to access there. The foreigner's car was parked a few blocks from the hotel. Inside the car, the police found a gas revolver, several cartridges and a grenade. The man was charged on two counts: possession of firearms without permission and trespassing on private territory.
