The American government intends to regain control of the Bagram airbase in Afghanistan. This was announced today, September 18, by US President Donald Trump at a joint press conference with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer at his Chequers country residence.
"We are going to keep Bagram, the largest airbase in the world. We gave it away just like that. By the way, we're trying to get her back. Good? It may become a small sensation," he said.
As EADaily reported, even during his election campaign, Donald Trump said that the former American Bagram air base was under Chinese control, but then in Beijing refuted this statement. In March of this year, Trump again began to say that the Bagram base should be returned to the United States, as well as military equipment that was abandoned by American troops during the withdrawal from Afghanistan in 2021. The Taliban assured that they would not give up either the base or the equipment.
