Poland is responsible for its airspace only within its borders. This was stated in an interview with LCI TV channel by the country's president Karol Navrotsky.
This is how he answered the question of whether Poland is ready to shoot down drones over Ukraine if they approach the Polish border.
"Our army shoots down drones as soon as they cross the border of Poland. But this is still a violation of the integrity of a state that is a member of NATO. Therefore, from a technical point of view, we are responsible for our airspace within the borders of Poland," Navrotsky said, quoted by the Strana newspaper.
As reported by EADaily, Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski, against the background of the drone incident, the evidence of the alleged "Russian" origin of which was not provided, said that the issue of introducing a no-fly zone over Ukraine should be considered, but Poland can only make such a decision together with its allies.
Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of the Russian Federation Dmitry Medvedev warned Western countries about the consequences that the implementation of NATO plans to create a "no-fly zone over Ukraine" will have.
