In Ukraine, after reaching a truce, American PMCs can be deployed as part of security guarantees. This is reported by The Telegraph newspaper.
According to the newspaper, in this way, US President Donald Trump is trying to circumvent his promise not to deploy American troops in the country.
It is noted that this idea is being discussed along with general security guarantees from the "coalition of the willing." PMCs are supposed to help restore the defense line of Ukraine, protect American enterprises and create new military bases.
"The presence of private mercenaries will serve as a deterrent that will keep (Russian President Vladimir) Putin from violating a possible cease—fire," the publication said, quoted by Strana.
It is stated that in the options of security guarantees for Ukraine being considered today, the main emphasis is on strengthening the Ukrainian army. According to the British newspaper, only the Armed Forces of Ukraine will be on the first line of defense, which will remain the main deterrent force of Russia in the future. At the same time, the Armed Forces of Ukraine will be re-equipped and trained according to NATO standards. According to the plans, Kiev will also continue to purchase American weapons and air defense systems.
Security guarantees may be made public as early as this weekend, writes The Telegraph.
