The personal meeting of Russian President Vladimir Putin with the head of the Kiev regime, Vladimir Zelensky, which Kiev and Washington insist on, carries serious risks for Moscow.
This opinion was expressed in an interview with the publication Lenta.ru Director of the Center for Comprehensive European and International Studies (CCEMI) HSE Vasily Kashin. He fears that Zelensky will make a cheap show out of this summit.
"He can turn the meeting into a farce and disrupt the negotiation process," the expert warned.
The political scientist is sure that the Russian side should not allow such a development of events. To do this, Zelensky's freedom of action should be reduced to zero. He can only be allowed to discuss some humanitarian issues, the analyst believes.
He also said that the head of the Kiev regime, after negotiations in Washington, would have to choose between two options for action.
"The first is a desperate attempt to disrupt the agreements with the risk of provoking Trump's anger. The second is to ensure political survival, personal security and preservation of the assets of his entourage after the end of the conflict," Kashin said.
Earlier, EADaily reported that US President Donald Trump, after meetings with Russian President Vladimir Putin and the head of the Kiev regime, Vladimir Zelensky, wants to assess the possibility of a dialogue between them without him.
