US President Donald Trump said that the probability of an unsuccessful conclusion of negotiations with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Alaska is 25%.
"There is a 25 percent chance that this meeting will be unsuccessful," Trump said on Fox News Radio.
In case of failure of negotiations, Washington will resort to sanctions, Trump confirmed.
Earlier, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, on the eve of the summit of the leaders of Russia and the United States on August 15, said that achieving peace on Ukraine needs to discuss issues of security guarantees, as well as territorial disputes and claims.
"In order to achieve peace, everyone understands that it is necessary to have a conversation about security guarantees, about territorial disputes and claims — about what, in fact, the struggle is going on. All this will become part of a comprehensive agreement," RIA Novosti quoted Rubio as saying.
According to the Secretary of State, US President Donald Trump expects, first of all, to achieve a ceasefire in order to "create conditions for these conversations."
