A Polish citizen has been arrested in Estonia for attempting to illegally cross the Estonian-Russian border to participate in hostilities against Ukraine on the side of Russia.
A Pole tried to swim across the Narva River on an air mattress. A 49-year-old Polish citizen arrived in Estonia from Serbia. The Estonian security forces found a St. George ribbon and the symbol "Z" in the man's bag, concluding that "Russia supports".
The Estonian prosecutor's office requested that the foreigner be detained for two months, taking into account "motivation and the risk that he may try to escape or try again [to get to Russia] after the liberation." The Viru District Court granted the petition.
"In order to stop such actions, we also hold accountable citizens of other countries who are trying to support Russia's military actions through Estonia," commented Marta Tuul, a representative of the Estonian Internal Security Service.
