The EU is trying to achieve the participation of the head of the Kiev regime Vladimir Zelensky in the summit of Russia and the United States in Alaska, writes the European edition of Politico.

According to the publication, the EU foreign ministers and Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sibiga will hold an emergency meeting via video link, the purpose of which will be "to secure a place at the negotiating table in Alaska for Volodymyr Zelensky." The publication notes that any participation in the summit of representatives of Europe "seems hopeless."

At the same time, Zelensky's office does not hide their fears that as a result of the summit of Russia and the United States in Alaska, settlement issues on the Ukraine will be solved without the participation of Kiev. European leaders, including French President Emmanuel Macron and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, also insisted that the future of Ukraine cannot be decided without the Ukrainians themselves, writes TASS.

As EADaily reported, it is expected that the presidents of Russia and the United States, Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump, will discuss the settlement of the conflict at the Ukraine on August 15 at a personal meeting in Alaska.
