Following the signing of the memorandum of peace with Armenia, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev said that US President Donald Trump "brought peace to the Caucasus."
"If it were not for President Trump, Armenia and Azerbaijan would probably have continued the endless negotiation process," Aliyev said.
He expressed confidence that "Armenia and Azerbaijan will find the courage and responsibility for reconciliation."
"Prime Minister Pashinyan and I are ready to send a joint appeal to the Nobel Committee on awarding the Peace Prize to Donald Trump," Aliyev said.
The Azerbaijani President also thanked Trump for repealing the 907th Amendment to the Freedom Support Act.
"I would like to thank Mr. President for lifting, after 33 years, the restriction that was imposed on Azerbaijan just a year after it regained independence in 1992. It happened today. The Azerbaijani people will really remember this day with great honor and great gratitude," Aliyev said.
As EADaily reported, following the meeting of the leaders of the three countries in Washington, Trump said that "Armenia is creating an exclusive partnership with the United States for the development of the Zangezur Corridor, which can be designed for up to 99 years.
"We expect significant infrastructure development by American companies," he said.
