The former president of AZAL Airlines, Jahangir Asgarov, left Azerbaijan with a deposit of 170 million manats (about $ 100 million) in one of the Azerbaijani banks, local media reported.
As reported by Oxu.Az Earlier, this amount was issued in the name of the late wife of Jahangir Asgarov — Zarifa Gamzayeva.
"After Gamzayeva's death, the former president of AZAL reissued these funds in his own name. Currently, Asgarov lives in Spain and receives monthly income of 1.2 million manats from this amount," the newspaper writes.
Zarifa Gamzayeva died in January 2025. She was a Doctor of Science in genetics and medical prevention, founder and president of Gazelli Group, the main shareholder of Premium Bank CJSC and a member of the Board of the Caspian Energy Club.
